Vet Visits
We had to take our cat to the vet. He just wasn’t acting his usual self. We found out that he has a bad heart. He is now on heart medicine and already he seems to be acting better. We were told we caught it early, so hopefully he will be with us a long time. He is almost 14 years old, the best darn kitty in the world.
The scales are moving ever so slowly. This month I am down only 4 pounds so far. Halfway through the month that doesn’t seem so bad. Guess I am in a hurry, don’t know why I should be. I have no great plans for a big celebration as the end of my loss. In fact I will be always eating the CR way.
I must admit my eyes were roaming the pre-made foods at Whole Foods today. I almost bought a few things. I didn’t. I even picked up some Chocolate, put it back. I ate a banana on the ride home. They have become my treats. I stood at the cheese counter hoping for a taste. That is the only way I eat cheese anymore. Just a tiny bite and I am on my way. Good for a few more weeks.
The Greek always has to have his Scone Henge and I get my bite(s). That is how I control any over eating urge. He has lost weight too. Not much, just enough to look pretty darn good.
We stopped at the Apple store, what a mad house that place is. It is always fun to see people playing with the IMac. It sure will be nice when I can finally set mine up. It sits right beside me waiting for it’s Time Capsule. It should be here in a few weeks. Then I can start finally using it. This new desk is a good size so I can have the PC and IMac side by side. Lots of things to play with.
A picked up a few new Techie books. Two on Wordpress, (I don’t know why I bought 2) and one on the software in the mac. Lots of stuff to read. Makes me a happy gal.
My heart goes out to you and your kitty. This exact thing happened to us just this last week with our 11 year old orange tabby, Sunny. Fortunately we caught it in time, so the vet says. He’s on medication and in fact goes back for his one week follow up chest xray to make sure the fluid is out of his lungs and the medicine is working properly. He has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, apparently quite common in cats. And I’m not ready to lose my little guy either.
Just an FYI, if pill giving is a problem and your cat won’t accept the medicine ground up in his food, and you don’t want to stress his already weak heart, ask your vet for Chew Tabs. They come in different flavors and they can be prepared so the cat can take the chew tab instead of the pill. Less stress for everyone.
Take care and headbutts and purrs to your cat!

He seems to be doing better. He is more alert and has his curiosity back.
The vet seems to think we caught it early.
Good Luck with your kitty
