Day 80

I don’t know if this is great, good, or fine, I have lost 30 pounds in 80 days. I feel fine, eat good and look great. So there it is, all of them. The goal for the next 20 days is 7 more gone. Of course more will be welcome.

Breakfast

The Organic Flax seed that I grind and put in glass of Orange Juice, diluted with water, is a great boost for breakfast. It is full of the Omega 3 fatty acids and some protein. I have 2 tablespoons twice a day. It has 74 calories so I can add something else to breakfast. The Orange juice adds 45 calories, 119 total. I don’t eat eggs or dairy so it will be a grain. I am trying a slice of Sprouted Organic Whole Wheat toast to see how long it sticks with me. If I am feeling content until noon I will be happy with this breakfast. It has 219 calories and 7 grams of protein. If I can get my mind around the egg whites it will add a whopping 10 grams of protein and only 46 calories. I could add them to the toast, fold it in half so hopefully I won’t smell them. The plan is to get used to the taste and texture and not think of them as slimy awful things. I add one Enzyme for digestion and the Women’s formula for a hormonal boost. The next purchase of enzymes will be the higher potency because I do eat most everything cooked and can’t always buy organic.

Lunch

My lunch will continue to be 1/2 cup of the Organic Rancho Gordo beans. They have about 100 calories and 6 grams of protein. This is a very satisfying lunch. I have the beans either plain, with olive oil and apple cider vinegar, onions and tomato in a cold salad or with tomato and spices like chili beans. I would hate to have to give up these beans, they are a must have.

Snacks

The search is still on going for a good filling snack. Fruit seems to be the only thing I enjoy as a snack. I will eat only organic and local fruit so I am limited by season. Right now it is Oranges and apples. I like strawberries and other berries, grapes, pineapple, just about any fruit that is low in the glycemic index and low in calories. I will take another Enzyme to help digest the carbs. I eat about 3 servings of fruit a day.

Dinner

Here is the biggest meal of the day and the most fun to cook, when I feel like cooking, that is. I am making a library of recipes that are low in calories and high in protein. Fish is my favorite, chicken, turkey and low fat ground beef, in that order. I have to cook a big protein dinner because the Greek enjoys it. He is good with just a sandwich but I am not, so I cook. We have no cheese or salt added to anything. A bit of Olive oil on the vegetables which are usually green beans, broccoli, spinach and asparagus when in season. (local grown). We have fish twice a week, chicken 2 to 3 times, ground turkey 2 or more and ground beef once or less. I weigh before cooking to be sure I have 4 ounces raw and he has 5. We eat no rice, white potatoes or pasta. I make meatloaf, chili, burgers, chicken strips and several other ways of cooking these few ingredients. It is really surprising how many different tasty dishes can be made with such few protein choices. We don’t eat out by ourselves. If we are asked out we watch what we order. In fact I really don’t care to eat out anymore. I just don’t enjoy it. This meal follows with another Enzyme.

Snacks

Evening snacks need to be consumed before 7pm. If I have some calories left for the day it will be nuts, walnuts or almonds. I have 10 pieces. I used to eat dates until I discovered they are high in the glycemic index. I am OK to not eat them, they are so high in calories. There will not be any sugar snacks, I am so happy the Greek as even given up his Twinkies and Ho Ho’s. He did it without me asking. He says he doesn’t miss them. He would stop at a convenience store and get them at least twice a day and almost always bring them home to eat after dinner. I am so happy he stopped doing this. His belly is happy too.

That’s it, pretty much our day here in the Koumarlas household. Eating like this has given us more energy, less weight, and hopefully a much longer life. I will continue to keep my calories at around 1100. I feel very satisfied at that amount. Shopping is easier, cooking is easier, life is better.

Hi there! I work with Brenda! She told me how much weight you lost (she is very proud of you by the way) and I am going to try it out. Can you give me pointers? I’ve actually just started it today, and I’m starting out at 1500 calories a day. I’ll go down slowly from there. I’m one of those crash dieters, this way I can still have my cake and eat it too if I really have to. I’m a sugar junkie, so it’ll take me awhile to wein myself off of it.
