Calorie Restriction and processed foods

What exactly is processed food?

Well, of course, anything that is not in its natural state.
Here is a good article on why you should replace your breakfast cereals.
I gave up unhealthy processed foods 2 years ago and intend to never eat them again.
To me cereals and pastas were the first on my list to study. It didn’t take much to convince me that I had to give them up forever.  For one thing, I didn’t want the sugars that is in them, didn’t want the binders that is used to make the cute shapes, and didn’t want the processed milk I had to have just to get them down.

Frozen Foods

I  still eat processed foods, they are fresh picked then frozen. I buy broccoli, green beans, blackberries, strawberries cherries, blueberries, raspberries, and fish, all frozen. I buy organic corn tortillas.
I also buy some processed canned products, such as garbanzo beans, and other legumes like them. I enjoy the convenience of having them ready for me. They are always organic and I make sure they are grown and packaged in the US.
With all the scare about crap in food additives coming from China and then the food scares from Mexico I try to be very careful about where my food comes from. I do end up with a few frozen things from Mexico, mostly the Broccoli. It is more important to make sure the fruit is grown local. I really try to do that, it is hard sometimes. I do live in a great fruit and vegetable growing region in California.
Eating unprocessed food isn’t my main concern, it is eating unhealthy foods even if they are organic and unprocessed.

Shopping

Some stores rebrand their food with their own label and still don’t say where is was grown and processed. Of course I refuse to buy any of those products.

Dairy
The only dairy I will buy is organic butter and non fat cottage cheese. The added fat and calories in dairy and all the hormones just is not worth it. Neither is the horrible breath from the cheese.  I am convinced that my body is leaner even though I am still not at goal, than it would be if I were stuffing it with milk, grains, and sugars.

Sugar
I do use sugar, and it is processed. I buy pure cane sugar and use very little of it.
I don’t buy anything with HFCS in it.
The Greek still enjoys the Catsup that has HFCS so I do buy it for him. He is overweight and there is nothing I can do about it. He eats about a loaf of bread a day.  He doesn’t have a beer belly but he sure has a bread basket.

Calorie Restriction

I don’t try to force my eating habits on him, I do refuse to cook pasta, rice and potatoes. He is OK with that.
It is my choice to live a clean and healthy life and I try my absolute best to not try to convert anybody to it. Some people think they are so darn smart about their diet and lifestyle they can’t hear anyway. Even trying to defend  processed foods. It is so silly simple to me. If it came from a farm and you bought it in a box it is processed simple and plain as that, and yes it should not be eaten.

Think before you eat
Some people honestly believe that processed foods are just hot dogs and sausages, ha.  Just because it came from a store that claims all their food is natural, which by the way  it is,  poison is also natural, doesn’t mean it is healthy and you should make a broad statement that you are giving up processed foods, then open a box of cereal and pour milk on it.  You then get a processed tortilla and put processed cheese and processed pizza sauce on it and say you gave up processed foods. Where is the thought in that. If you insist on eating processed foods just say I am eating foods without unnatural additives.
Calorie Restricion is not a diet
I will continue on my way eating and enjoying my new very thin body that I got from eating what I want and what my body needs. I will count my calories and  make sure I am getting the highest nutrition I can from my food choices. You can be sure it won’t be coming from a box or cereal or a hunk of cheese anytime soon. No wonder there is so darn many overweight people around. Do they all think that processed food is healthy because the box says so?

Does this video make any sense to you? Am I wrong here, everything he is using is processed. I do have to give it to him, he did say something about if you say unprocessed means no added chemicals, but that isn’t what processed is. Oh well. I can’t save the masses.
